With the support of the Lifelong Learning programme of the European Union



The full achievement of the benefits of the electric vehicle introduction in the mobility system on energy and environment postulates the consistency on these aspects with their complete life cycle. This means the conscious consideration of the impact on energy and environment of all the phases of the product life, from the technology concept, the manufacturing, the vehicle operation, the technical assistance, the recycling at the end of life.

A specific cultural formation is a requisite for all the operators involved in these new vehicle technologies and in the operational supportive systems.

With this address, in the frame of EU Lifelong Learning Programme Leonardo Da Vinci, a project has been started intended to define, develop and support professional qualification for the operation and assistance of electric and hybrid vehicles, in the medium and long term.

The 30 months Project TECMEHV aims to implement a “Knowledge Training & Development of European Competences on Maintenance of Electric & Hybrid Vehicle”. Two major activities are: Definition of the Competence Framework on Electric & Hybrid Vehicles Maintenance, Repair & Operation and Development of set e-learning courses on selected key topics, for online training modules.

The basic technology for electric vehicle manufacturing and use is available, but the scarce global energy and material patrimony, and the environment and human health protection postulate a special sensitivity to these aspects in all life cycle of the mobility means.

All the phases of the life cycle are involved, from design, production, operational use, technical assistance maintenance, repair, up to recycling.

Similarly appropriate formation should be dedicated to the operators dealing with infrastructures for energy supply for electric and rechargeable hybrid vehicles.

All the actors and professionals involved in this cycle should be animated by the consciousness of optimizing their actions with respect to energy, environment and human protection and conservation of resources.

The technical culture to be disseminated to these new technology operators should be marked to this sensitivity, together with the appropriate technical formation, to create the necessary skills.

The effective support to the electric vehicle diffusion with the respect of the environment needs the deep knowledge of the new technologies and the consciousness of saving the natural resources.
